Highlights:
In March 2006 the Mexican Governet of Tabasco State appointed me to design a Stand-Display for the first Bruges Chocolate Festival Choco-Laté organized by the Chocolate museum Choco-Story and the city of Brugges together with the Belgian enterprise Panelite.
The design concept is based in the architecture of Barragán. The colours used are Pink (Rosa Mexicano) which depicts the traditional Mexican open markets (tianguis), Purple which connotes the ancient Mexican cultures such Olmecs, Toltecs, Mayas and Aztecs. And orange, which connotes the Mexican Sun and its warm and friendly people.
My stand concept consisted of 5 different elements:
A two-sided central display with five niches, three central niches showing Mexican ceramic sculptures and Cacao seeds. And two lateral niches showing handicrafted Mexican chocolate from Tabasco.
On the back of the display the logos of Mexico and Gobierno del Estado de tabasco as well as 4 posters.
4 base-socles showing Olmec sculptures, baskets and vasels decorated with Xocoatl (cocoa) grains.
During the first two days after the opening of the Exhibition, 14 thousand people visited the Festival. At the end of the Festival the Choco Story Museum was keen in aqcuiring the stand, but at the end it was placed at the Mexican Embassy in Brussels, where it will be used permanently for itinerant exhibitions.
Output received from the client and the organizers of the Festival Choco-Laté was:
"The Tabasco's Stand was the most different and beautiful among all the stands present on the fair, we liked it a lot. Congratulations."
"El Stand me gustó mucho, captaste muy bien al maestro Barragán, la selección de los colores y cómo interactúan me
gustó mucho, los nichos nos serán de especial utilidad..."
