Highlights:
In 2008 I designed the content driven website for this Bolivian-Belgian organization, ran and created by my friend the permaculture expert aBruno de Roissart since the 70's.
Sachawasi is The House of Trees,
a Bolivian Centre for Andean-Amazonian permaculture.
The Center for Research and Experimentation was created in the Bolivian high-lying Amazon, in the foothills of the Andes and in the entrance of the Madidi National Park, one of the most beautiful and threatened parks in South America.
It covers a wide range of ecosystems from 150 to 6000 meters above sea level, and as such, holds a unique biodiversity, not only of wild plants but also of cultivated plants. Globalization threatens this unique richness with monocultures, rural depopulation and deforestation.
For years, our center is saving the most environmentally friendly indigenous ancestral values and technologies and restoring them thanks to the latest discoveries in biodynamic agriculture. Controlled by qeshwas communities, its aims is to ensure the food safety and the preservation of ancient seeds.
We also work with techniques of soil fertilization from the branches of trees-BRF - with machetes - and wood coal produced with tree trunks and branches not used in joinery and carpentry. This non-slash-and-burn agriculture preserves the Amazonian Forest from huge fires that are devasting it. In a few years, we will put in place extremely complex agricultural ecosystems, with 6 or 7 levels of vegetation and with an astonishing biodiversity.
